Injury-addled Tax mulls trip to the DL

ANTIOCH -- When it rains it pours for the 0-2 Hot Chasers.

In an unfortunate but probably inevitable incident, Hot Chaser third baseman Dave Taxier pulled his lower left calf muscle playing tennis on Saturday while preparing for his league tennis match on Sunday. Taxier pronounced himself out of Sunday's 3.5 men's tennis match at Freedom High, and left his status for Thursday's softball tilt as "questionable."

"It's not the worst muscle-pull injury I've ever had," said Taxier. "By Thursday I probably should be able to go out there and hobble around, but I'll probably need a pinch-runner. I'm sure I won't be at 100 percent. I'll even sit out if that would be best for the team. I'm all about the team."

The setback comes at a dicey time for the Hot Chasers. Second baseman Dennis Pimentel played hurt last Thursday with a sore left arm and indicated then he would be out of action this Thursday. Therefore, it puts emphasis on the HC'ers who joined the team on a part-time basis.

The part-time may be now.
