Time to go

The Hot Chasers have announced that Dennis Pimentel will miss the remainder of the season.
The veteran second baseman suffered a shoulder injury while diving for a ground ball on April 14.
"Twice I've tried to come back and twice I've aggravated it," he said. "I need to shut it down for awhile."
Pimentel hinted that retirement could be just around the corner.
"I knew when I failed to cover second base on a grounder to short the other night, my head wasn't it," he said. "I'm not saying I'm quitting, but I'm not saying I'll be back either."
With summer coming, Pimentel plans to spend time rehabbing and improving his golf and tennis games. If his softball career is indeed over, he is already looking ahead.
"I'm gonna be an NHRA groupie," he said happily.
Many of the Hot Chasers expressed disappointment at Pimentel's decision.
"I know he's been pretty frustrated lately," Dave Taxier said. "Between his shoulder and his two-hand backhand, things haven't been going too well for him. But I wish him well."
"Of course he's not the same player he was when we played for the Tribune co-ed team," Mike Wolcott said. "But kiss my double ass, who is? He was still solid."
"Did you see the way I pitched last night?" Rick Hurd said.
Not all the fans were sad to see Pimentel leave as one unidentified Hot Chaser rooter made clear in a phone interview.
"I don't want to say anything," the fan said, "but Pimentel leaving isn't even worth putting in a 44-inch digest."
But didn't the fan think Pimentel brought some intangibles to the Hot Chasers?
"Whatever."

Dennis was part of the best coed double-play combo I've ever had the privilege of pitching in front of, and he teamed up with my ex-wife to do it (I'm not even sure what that means). If he retires, I may not be far behind. -- Wally

D-Bear: You don't have to think about retiring until you're the oldest guy on the team. And as long as I'm around ....
