Worth A Look

This just in from ESPN.com:

"I KNEW the Hot Chasers would lose their opener." -- Skip Bayless

This just in from the SF Chronicle:

"I believe the Hot Chasers will still win their division but no one can read it here cuz they wont let me write a column anymore." -- Glenn Dickey

This just in from the Contra Costa Times:

"Who cares about softball when I have a media column to write? It's not in me to write about softball." -- Jonathan Okanes

This just in from the A's dugout:

"After watching the first few innings of their game, I would have to say that only the Hot Chasers have a worse offense than us." -- Ken Macha
(Reaction to this comment was swift from the Chasers management. "Yeah, whatever, clown. You're still gonna win the World Series for the next 25 years," said Dave Belli.)

This just in from HotChasers.com:

"They lost, but who cares? Those Hot Chasers are a bunch of hot guys." -- some guy named Pat.

Well, the blog's been silent since we opened up with a less than stirring loss Thursday. Don't worry, we will be back. And there were some highlights to talk about...ok, lowlights.

So let's not forget....
1) Scoring eight runs in one inning when we could have just said "F it."
2) Lefty pulling himself out of the game to take a phone call from the office. And then finding out no one really called...hmmm, that still has DeCicco written all over it.
3) Joe Roderick walking around with a lineup card taped to his back. Ah, Tax, I've taught you well.
4) And of course, who can forget Joe taking a line drive off his cup...except he wasn't wearing a cup. Ever notice the way a person walks after he's had a cup check? It's kinda like someone who just got off a horse. Ride'em, Joe (and I hope it didn't ruin your date after the game!!!!)

So we're 0-1. Oh, well. Did we or didn't we shake the other team's hands? I believe we did. We got class, win or lose.

According to manager Chris Wagnon, "Yeah, we got our butts kicked, but we still dominated the parking lot."

And really, isn't that what a winner is?

NOTES: Despite published reports, Phil Jensen did not show up to throw out the first pitch. "Hey, I don't know why anyone reported that in the first place," Jensen said. "You f-----g reporters are all the same. You're nothing but a bunch of liars. You lied and you and you...you all lied. You wanted me to jump off a bridge. Well, I finally jumped. I hope you're all happy now." ... Mike Wolcott is expected to make his pitching debut this week. No word on whether the orange pants will make an appearance as well. ... Second baseman Dennis Pimentel is listed as questionable for this week after pulling a muscle in his left shoulder while diving for a ground ball. ... The Hot Chasers return to the field Thursday at 6:15 p.m. against FCS Happy Hour. Unlike last week, no one expects a full house so you can drive to the game if you want.
