Muckrakers stiffed by Big Johnsons

WALNUT CREEK -- The thrust of last week's game was excitement. But this week's game was something of a letdown as the Big Johnsons came up big and had their way with the Muckrakers, 21-9.

The Muckrakers, coming off an eight-run last-inning rally in Game 1, came out stroking well with a three-run first, but the BJ's showed they were not in the mood to be blown out by replying with a five-run bottom of the first. The Big Johnsons were especially huge in the fifth, when they exploited every hole, every nook and cranny, of the Muckrakers defense and scored 10 runs.

Once again the Muckrakers were scrambling for players and did well to field a team by gametime. Once play got under way Matt Petersen delivered a stellar effort, pitching well, covering home on plays at the plate, and going 4-for-5 at the plate, driving in three and doubling and tripling. John Romero stepped off the motorcycle for a 4-for-5, 3 RBI effort, and Luke Abbott tripled in the first and went 2-for-5.

But hand it to the Big Johnsons, who were as relentless as Big Johnsons can be.
