CONCORD -- Not even a new mascot could save the Hot Chasers.
Still searching for that elusive first victory, the Hot Chasers fell short at the hands of High and Tight 15-10 on Tuesday night.
Mike Wolcott brought his dog Mullin out to support the Hot Chasers, but after the Hot Chasers fell behind 6-1 in the first inning, Mullin would have preferred staying home and begging for scraps from the dinner table rather than watch a bunch of has-beens trying to get their first D-league victory of the season.
Offensively, the Hot Chasers didn't come to life until the sixth inning in which they put up a six spot highlighted Matt Petersen's three-run double. On the play Bob Leal scored from first like there was going to be a keg at home plate. Petersen, who is playing in his second game, went 4-for-4 with two doubles batting out of the 10th hole.
The Hot Chasers scored three more runs in the seventh to reach double figures for the second time this season. Neil Hayes continued his improvement with a 3-for-4 showing while Wolcott went 2-for-4 with three RBI in trying to prove to Mullin that he still has it.
Sadly neither Mullin nor his master will be on hand for the Hot Chasers' next game against the Desperados on Thursday.
